Foundations
We'll be breaking down everything that makes blues work. We will explore the heart of connection and movement in blues dancing.
Blues Motion
Now that we've got foundations, we'll break down a lot of the types of movements that fit into the blues paradigm, and open up the ways you can use your body.
Lifts and Wraps
"Birds flying high, and you know how I feel..." It's time to add the third dimension to our dance and fly through the air. We'll be working on some safe and exciting moves that will knock your follower's socks off. Note: Follows, bring an extra pair of socks :P
Intentional Musicality
This ain't no "hoo-ha" touchy-feely class about being more emotional while dancing, and yet giving you no tools to work with. We teach Musicality in a way you haven't seen before. We will show you ways to consciously and deliberately connect with the music with clear and simple technique that you and your partner will love.
Open Blues
Blues is more than just swaying in place, so let's make our dance move! We'll work on swooping around the dance floor in the blues paradigm and opening up our connection to create even more dynamic energy in our dancing.
Momentum
We're going to show you how to give and take massive amounts of energy into your dancing, and you'll have your partner to thank!

Meet your instructor: DAVE MADISON

Dave Madison discovered partnered dance through Lindy Hop back in 1996 and then found Blues while dancing at the Austin Lindy Exchange in 2001.
Soon after, he became instrumental in the origins of the contemporary Blues house party, which eventually led to our formal Blues scene. When he's not in his home base of San Francisco, he travels the world helping Blues scenes grow, as well as introducing Blues Dancing to new scenes. Pre-Requisite
Fee & Registration RM200 for the entire weekend workshop, paid by 15 May 2015 OR RM180 for early bird price, paid by 6 May 2015 (Price includes entry to a special Saturday Night Blues social) Due to overwhelming response, if we do not receive payment by 15 May 2015, your reserved spot will be released to those on the waiting list. NOTE: Doing sections of the workshop is not allowed. You can pay us in person at our regular Wednesday Night Blues socials or at The Lindy Jam socials. |
