Movement Workshop for Dancers
Bullet-proof your body and keep dancing the way you love
If you've taken up dancing as a hobby or new-found passion, and have increased the frequency you dance, attending classes and grooving it out for hours at a time, it's likely you've experienced some aches and pains.

Day 1: Bullet-proofing for Dancers
Saturday, 17 August 2019 Similar to any other physical activity, practice and repetition is key to progress, however it does take a toll on our bodies. So we'll be going through concepts of mobility and strengthening of your joints and muscles to reduce the risk of injury. This also includes warm-up, cool-down and other practical protocols that you'll be able to use to extend the longevity of your joints and to keep dancing the way you love. Day 2: "Core" Concepts from Balance and Fluidity Sunday, 18 August 2019 Balance, coordination and tying in our bodies to move as a unit are integral to advancing as better dancers. Often we're told to use our "core" to better control our movement or when balancing, but more often we're left feeling like we just brace our abs and end up stiff in our trunks. This workshops aims to help you develop your sense of balance and connection between your lower and upper-body from the ground up, starting from your feet and how we can feel more 'fluid balance' rather than trying to apply stationary planking and feeling like statues. |
