Ladies and gents, lace up your dancing shoes and warm up your legs for the Lindy League!

Launched to educate dancers on competition formats, the Lindy League is LindyKL's fun competition at the monthly socials. Here's everything you need to know about it.

What is the Lindy League?

Each month at the Lindy Jam socials, there will be a different on-the-spot partner dance competition leading up to a final J&J at the LindyKL year-end party in December.

At each competition, participants are given a warm-up dance with their partner, a spotlight of 8 eights on the dance floor, and an all-skate where all pairs dance simultaneously. Refer to the steps here.

How is the winning pair determined?

A panel of judges will decide on the winning pair. The judges' decision is final.

Do winners receive a prize?

The winning pair every month will receive free entry to the following month's Lindy Jam as well as free entry to the year-end party J&J (excluding party pass). The winners at the year-end party will be declared league champions and receive a mystery gift, in addition to (ahem) bragging rights.

What are the monthly competitions?

The next format will be announced at each Lindy Jam. Check the LindyKL Facebook page for updates.

Is there a cost for entry?

Entry to the Lindy League is free for Lindy Jam attendees. There will be a fee for entry to the final competition at the LindyKL year-end party.

Any other rules?

Lindy hoppers of any level can participate. The previous month's winners can still participate in the following month's competition. LindyKL reserves the right to change the rules at any time without prior notice. No aerials are permitted at any of the Lindy League competitions.

FAQ

I joined the previous month's comp. Can I join again?
Yes! Whether you've won or not, you can join the comp on another month. The idea is to get you comfortable with being in the spotlight.

What happens if I win with my partner?
For the year-end comp, a small fee will be collected from participants but previous winners get free entry. It isn't compulsory for you to compete at the year-end comp, but we highly encourage you to do so. Note that registration for the year-end comp is individual.

Can I register in advance for the year-end competition?
Registration for the year-end comp will open after the Lindy Jam in November.
